Carbon Cleaning – Callan

Build-up on your car’s intake valve is pretty inevitable especially if the majority of your driving is in urban conditions.

There are a few things that you can do yourself to help prevent carbon build-up:

• Give the engine a chance to get really hot and burn off some of the carbon by getting out on the motorway and giving the car a good blast
• Beeping your ECU software up to date can in some cases, avoid any carbon building up at all
• Make sure that you have the oil in your engine changed regularly and only use good-quality synthetic oil if you’re topping it up yourself
• Filling up with high-octane fuel which burns hotter than the alternatives and so will burn away more of the carbon, leaving less to clog up your intake valve.
