How often do I need to change my car’s engine oil?

If you’re planning to keep your car long-term, it’s definitely worth having the oil changed twice a year or every 8,000 to 11,000 kilometres. It used to be the case that engine oil needed to be changed more often but with modern synthetic lubricants, the intervals in between changes can be safely extended.

The main thing is to make sure that you bring your car or van into Callan Autos to have it serviced and the oil changed regularly at our workshop. Engine oil lubricates and cleans critical engine components and protects others; as it ages, the oil becomes less effective at doing its job and if it is left too long, it can lead to expensive engine damage.
